The Christopher Peter Review offers weekly content providing an economic perspective on the salient current events that impact our public policy, our economic outcomes, and our overall society. Please experience the featured episode and explore the menus below for more content.

THE POWER OF INCENTIVES

The one aspect of humanity many people overlook is that we all are influenced by rewards and punishments. Generally, people are averse to risk and negative outcomes. So, the behaviors and choices you reward are more likely to grow. Although people are shying away from negative reinforcement for bad behaviors, we must not completely fall down the slippery slope where bad behaviors is encouraged and society is sympathetic to the whims of the bad while overlooking the plight unfairly placed on victims.

HIT THE GROUND RUNNING

President Trump spoke about his agenda and made a great deal of promises. In his first week, he delivered on many of them and initiated a whole host of others. A very productive week addressing issues with our border crisis, federal work ethic, and removing a dangerous and purposefully misleading mindset that created nothing but division and distrust. A good start to the second term.

SMALL BUSINESS MATTERS

Our economy has the room for and needs businesses of all sizes, small, medium, large, and global organizations domiciled in our borders. There are advantages of all, but challenges when public policy unintentionally gives one type an unfair advantage over other forms. In the above, I discuss reasonable ideas to protect small businesses.

THINK CRITICALLY

The skill of critical thinking can help a person make the right choices in their lives. Make the right choices in their economic decisions, like changing jobs or staying at your current position. Choices like to live in one community or another. To decide what school to pursue your degree at compared to other institutions with the same program.

The skills used to make the right choices in other areas of your life should be applied to the political decisions you make. Because there are candidates telling people not to overthink the choice come this November. But critical thinking can help you see through the narratives and find substance that you need to make the right choice.

BALANCED SOLUTIONS

The best solutions can be created by taking the best ideas regardless of the stereotype surrounding an ideological group. For important issues like how we fund our government, protect our communities, defend our borders, and more can have balanced solutions. Please experience the episode above to see how.

NEW ERA: TRUMP’S SECOND TERM

The Biden Era is finally over and America moves on to a new era with a return of President Donald Trump, who Americans voted flocked to in the election. Additionally, American society and culture has embraced the new leader and the MAGA agenda in a manner unlike any time in the past.

WHAT IS NORMAL?

A great deal of effort is done with the intent of influence what Americans view as normal, which can be subjective to each individual experience. I hesitate to ever view something as weird without trying to see the actual impact and the idea behind something. In the above featured piece, I discuss normalcy in society as the main topic.

THE PROHIBITIVE COST OF EDUCATION

The debate over higher education is a broad and complex one. Should certain fields really require college degrees? How should access be fairly allocated? The one thing we cannot deny is the importance skills have in our economy. Attaining the set of marketable skills changes over time. Personally, I support the college experience, but also believe alternative paths are more than suitable ways to pursue a viable career. In the above, I offer ideas to try to lower the cost of college attendance beyond redistribution so a person can make a real choice.

ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY

The ability to plot your own economic path, determine how to live your life, and retain the rewards of your hard work and skill is important. The reason why people all across the world want to become Americans is because of the opportunity that we have here. Restricting choice and opportunity is not good economic policy. Economic opportunity protects our freedom and democracy.

OUR POLITICAL BRANDS

The state of a brand is not only judged by the actual results and performance, but also the perception around those results and narratives that exist. In the world of politics, there are really only 2 main brands and the big elections determine how the public views each. In 2024, the brands are in a much different state than what many would have thought and one may have done irreparable damage to itself.

PHILLY WINS

The Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl 59, capping off a spectacular season with many great performances by Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, our defense and more. In late September, it did not seem like this was possible, but what a run.

ALL IN

Sports fans in Dallas, TX are not really liking the varying versions of their local teams being All In for the pursuit of another title. To the point that their basketball team is providing refunds to some fans. We are about to see 2 teams that are All In in the proper manner play for the biggest prize in sports. And the longest sports league in America has changed its fortunes by being All In for the fans.

THE CONFERENCE CHAMPS

Who does not like a sequel? Personally, I do because the new edition can be an extension of the original or the redemption of the past. This year’s Super Bowl is a rematch of the classic game two years ago. My Philadelphia Eagles will face once again the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans, aiming for the 2nd Super Bowl Championship and to stop a 3-Peat.

COLLEGE CHAMPION CROWNED

The Big Ten is making a strong case of being the new powerhouse conference in college football. The NFL Playoffs are heating up, but so is the continued controversy with the officiating of Chiefs games. Is the NFL trying to ensure a historical 3-Peat occurs? Pretty hard to dispute with the blatant bias shown this past weekend.

WILDCARD WEEKEND

There is nothing that entertains and captivates sports fans like the NFL. After a long grueling regular season, those teams that made it into the postseason found that there stay may have been shorter than anticipated. The finality of the NFL Playoffs is all too real.

CHRISTOPHER PETER:

Do you really know what goes into the prices you pay for goods or services? Many people do not fully understand it from an economic and business perspective. So, that is what I provide you in the following podcast episode. While people need their villains, the reality of prices and inflation is not always the ill intentions some make it out to be. In my newest commentary, I discuss how prices evolve.

There is a need for economic outcomes to be based on one’s actual effort, ingenuity, and perseverance. The push to influence outcomes based on demographics was never a sustainable or appropriate approach as history as shown us. A return to meritocracy is truly the best path and to allow all equal opportunity in their pursuit of the American Dream. Please experience my segment on the push for meritocracy.
